Does “Law” = OT and “Gospel” = NT?
The law and the gospel are found throughout the bible. This is a common misunderstanding . . .

Meh. Thankfulness is not our motivation. A sinful heart can only be grateful for so long before that wears thin.

Love does not spring from gratitude, it springs from God's love - we love Him because we are so thankful is not in the bible. We love Him because He first loved us.

We see that love when we begin to see ourselves as the wretches we truly are, and in the face of that knowledge we see His unwavering faithfulness and attention to our estate. We begin to love when we begin to see the nature of His love - as our trust in that love grows, our natural affection grows so that our ache to obey overcomes our present desire to disobey.

The way the author writes that gratitude drives the show, ... I don't know, I think he is wrong, or at best, poorly expressing the right thought.
